Greetings from the Van Rensselaer Division of the New York District of Kiwanis International. My name is Noreen Barrett and I will be Lieutenant Governor of the Van Rensselaer Division of Kiwanis International for the 2009-2010 year.

I taught in the Wynantskill Union Free School District for 32 years. Besides teaching elementary school for those years, I also was the advisor for the Eight Grade Class, Student Council, and Builders Club for serveral years. I joined Kiwanis in the fall of 2002, and have served as president, treasurer, and on the Board of Directors since becoming a Kiwanian.

One of my goals for this year is to build a new club in East Greenbush. For information about this new club, see East Greenbush Club. I also wish to increase membership in each club in the Division. I'm not just looking to increase the number of members, I'm hoping to get "Kiwnainas" as members. My third goal is to improve the fellowship in our Division. We have many caring members and I want Clubs to know how great our Division is by attending the the fundraisers of other Clubs throughout the year.

This website provides a direct link to the six Kiwanis Clubs and the three Circle-K International (CKI) Clubs in the Division. Accessing each of the club's websites will enable you to learn information about each club including; their community service and fundraising projects and sponsored youth groups.

"Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time." A few years ago an individual joined the local Kiwanis Club. When asked the reason, the new member stated, "I joined to help others, but most of all I joined to help myself, when I help others it makes me feel good inside."
