PROGRAM: John Mulligan introduced Jordan Scott from Maple Hill HS, the Key Club Division 18's Lt Governor, who presided over the installation of the Averill Park Key Club officers for 2016-2017.  Due to conflicting schedules, several students were unable to be present. Jordan introduced outgoing Secretary Maddy Gibbons, thanked her for the wonderful job she has done, and presented the AP Key Club with the Membership Retention Award. Incoming Co-President Sarah Garzione was installed, (her co-president Oliver Novak was not present), as was Vice President, Skyler Leveroni. Co-Secretaries Hannah Katz & Becca Re, Treasurer Katie Rollins, Social Media Chair Becca Kelly, and Photographer Bella Pastore completed the slate, but were not present. Co-president Sarah and Vice-President Skyler gave us the Key Club's project ideas for the year: Packs of Hope (back packs filled with useful items for homeless people like food and personal hygiene), grocery shopping for elderly/disabled persons, volunteering on adoption day at pet stores, making ice cream sundaes at nursing homes, honoring veterans on Memorial Day, school/community cleanups, volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, reading to ill children, elementary schoolers, or the elderly, helping with New Horizons Club, collecting books to give to schools in need, and helping with the Red Cross Blood Drive. If you can help with any of these donations, Sarah may be reached at <> or visit Packs-of-Hope of the Capital Region on Facebook. Maddie Gibbons is currently working on her Girl Scout Gold Award Project, the highest award given by the Girl Scouts, comparable to Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. She is collecting books to be donated to Joseph's House, Unity House, City Mission, and two doctor's offices. Both Averill Park High School and Algonquin Middle School are involved in the drive from May 2nd through May 13thThey can be child or adult books, and slightly used to new. She requested that Kiwanis members provide another source of books. Maddie can be reached on her cell phone (518) 928-5540, or by email at <>.  The Club thanked Kiwanis for past help and promised future cooperation.

$  Pat Lane: I borrowed $5 from Bob Loveridge for this Happy Dollar. Peg, Eve, and Jean, plus my friend Sharon, went with me yesterday to East Greenbush Kiwanis' Spring Fling for Seniors at the Melvin Roads Post, where we enjoyed a wonderful roast beef dinner and live music for dancing, plus dozens of great door prizes. We wondered why dual member Bob Loveridge was not there, so this is a donation for a great time missed.

$ Eve Ward: My grandson Ethan received his Master's degree, and was about to start job searching, when RPI asked him to remain and continue working on the cancer research project he started.

$ Barb Fioravanti: Two Happy Dollars: the first, I passed my special aviation medical, so I can keep flying my amphibian, landing on varoius lakes and rivers around here!  Second, the Builders Club finished their project of making and collecting food and toys for animals at the Mohawk & Hudson Humane Society, and delivering them.

$ Jim Rogers: To all the Kiwanians and adults involved with the SLPs "Thank you for your work with the K-Kids, Builders Club and Key Club!"

$ Pete Stevens: I'm $5 Happy because I just LOVE doing my taxes, and I just mailed them in on my way here tonight!  I am reading a book, Confront and Conceal, about Obama's dealings.  Get out and vote tomorrow!  I'm working the polls at the fire house.  Thank you for the five year pin.

$ Joe Behson: I am so happy that the great weather has come because I have started giving tennis lessons.

$ Bob Pasquarelli: Five Happy Dollars for this Key Club doing do well.  I used to be in Key Club when I was in high school.  I've been absent for the past week because Joan and I took time off from doctors and therapists to enjoy the Wells, ME area without any traffic!

$ Veronica Gaboury: Thanks for the warm welcome.

$ John Brownrigg: Today started out being a nice quiet day until I was called back from retirement AGAIN!

$ John Mulligan: I'm happy for these two great Key Club Advisors!

$ Jean Hamlin: I have lived in so many places over the years, but here I have so many good friends!

$ David Booker:  I recently met a most remarkable man, John Robinson, born without full arms or legs, who can do just ablout anything.  He will be our speaker on May 16th, and would like as many young peaple here as possible.  He is willing to speak in the schools.  To the students here: invite your friends, come about 7 PM and we'll have some refreshments.  Just let us know your numbers.
