Tues Jan 17th: ___________, ____________, ___________
THANKS to all the members, too numerous to list, for all the hours spent on our busy December projects: BELLS OF LIFE, CITRUS SALES, CHRISTMAS TREE SALES, FOOD & TOY DISTRIBUTION, RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE, & SENIOR HOLIDAY LUNCHEON!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ø Mike Gates: We sold 150 Christmas trees, netting about $2200, which was about $400 less than last year, but good considering the change of location. Our deepest thanks to Botsy, not just for granting us permission to use his parking lot, but for access to his barbershop for the extra creature comforts of heat, coffee, and use of his restroom!
Ø John Brownrigg: Thanks to those who sorted, wrapped, and distributed food and toys this season, especially those who made the extra effort of locating and delivering to families unable to come to the Legion Hall. Whatever was not claimed, or was undeliverable, was given to Doors of Hope. 70 families were served, including 190 children and121 adults. This year we had 25 new families, 45 repeaters, and 53 who were served last year, but did not apply this year. The Red Cross Blood Drive after Christmas collected 39 units. All in all, Community Services worked 172 hours by 21 different SLKs, and at $29.70/hour, provided $5185 value to our community!
JANUARY BIRTHDAYS:
Jim Colabelli, Skip Patton, Michael Gates & Dudley Dorr,
also this month but not present at the meeting: Bob Loveridge, Michael Marcelle & Kris Willis
JANUARY ANNIVERSARIES: Joe & Meg Distell
We
sang, (pretty well, too), to those who were present, and enjoyed Eve’s marble
cake!
PROGRAM

Social Chair Eve Ward reviewed her activities: After Summerfest Picnic, Valley Cats baseball game, Camp Rotary steak roast, Outgoing President’s Steak & Lobster cookout, buying plants and decorating tables for special occasions such as the Installation Dinner and the Holiday Dinner Party, providing appropriate greeting cards for occasions of illnesses and family losses, Brookside Seniors’ Holiday Luncheon, working with Dudley on signup sheets and phone calls, and whatever else comes up! Our thanks, Eve, for your dedication that makes our meetings just a little bit nicer than they would ordinarily be!
HAPPY DOLLARS
Eve Ward: Thanks to Rose & Dudley Dorr and Dave Booker for the wonderful fresh baked cookies for the Seniors’ Luncheon, and to Bob & Joan Pasquarelli for helping to serve!
Mike Gates: Shelley is getting better! Thanks for the goodies—she got most of them!
Bob Pasquarelli: For Mike’s proficiency with numbers for the citrus and tree sales. He did a great job with all those statistics that made my job much easier, and I appreciate it!
Skip Patton: For this great club…..looking forward to another fun year!
Jim Colabelli: Thanks to Pres Pat who took the extra fruit from me!
John Brownrigg: I had the flu last Friday, but I’ve recovered! Thanks for all the work done on the Community Services projects in December!
Gary Meislin: I went to an auction, bought a $20 gold piece for $2000, found it was worth $5000, so I mailed it to my son in Missouri for safekeeping! And Peg’s getting me a cat!
Janet Malecki: For this club! I feel like I’m coming home on Mondays!
Peg Weiss: For a wonderful 2 weeks in NC with most of my family! Had a dinner date with my grandson at a lovely restaurant in Charlotte, celebrated Christmas with everyone (it was 70 degrees!), and spent New Year’s with Roger Young’s wife Rose Marie! Got back this afternoon!
Joe Behson: I feel half happy—the Giants did, but the Jets didn’t!
Pat Lane: Had a wonderful holiday, with family in and out the whole time, except for one grandson who didn’t show, so I’m going to show HIM!
Jerry Tysiak: Our house too had a revolving door for the holidays! And I found that my grandson is a great helper for yard work!
The two extra dinners were purchased by Joe Behson and Linda Ellis for $10 each.

DOOR PRIZE, provided by Eve, was won by Bryce Ginther!
50/50 for $19 was won by John Brownrigg!
MEGA 50/50 starts all over again with a new deck of 52 cards and $25.
Eve Ward tried her best, but picked out the 8 of Spades.
And so we will watch it grow, and grow, and grow…………..!
