PROGRAM:

President Pat introduced Chief Rose Metchick and Paramedic Robbie MacCue from the Sand Lake Ambulance Squad.  Sand Lake is one of three towns in the area that have had paramedics on duty since 2005.  The others are North and East Greenbush.  Paramedics have advanced training and can administer life saving treatment and medications before reaching the hospital.  They are in radio contact with the Emergency doctors, and thus may be able to save lives when minutes count.  Robbie demonstrated two new pieces of equipment, the Lucas2 mechanical CPR chest compression device and the CAREVent ALS hand held resuscitator.  Both devices can provide life saving oxygen to the patient and have prevented brain damage.  The Ambulance Association was formed in 1959 as a not for profit organization and depends upon donations from the public, as well as some support from the Town of Sand Lake.  But budget cuts have hurt!  There are 37 volunteers who gave nearly 13,000 hours of service last year.  In addition to saving lives in emergencies the EMTs teach CPR to Averill Park High School students, and also provide Guardian Alert pendants to senior citizens on a fixed income at a reasonable cost.  Both Rose and Robbie expressed willingness to teach the SLKiwanians and spouses CPR.  Details will be forthcoming.  Bryce Ginther thanked both for an outstanding program and presented them with our Certificates of Appreciation.

HAPPY DOLLARS:

$ Barb Fioravanti: I have an offer of two beautiful white male cats who need a new home due to their owner's allergy.  They have blue eyes and should stay together.

$ Pete Stevens: I'm happy just because things are going well!

$ Eve Ward: Pat and I attended St. Henry's bazaar and we each found books that we knew had to go to John Brownrigg!  They presented John with "Nutcase" and "Basket Case"!

$ President Pat: I almost joined the Castleton Kiwanis Club but they are not as crazy as the SLKC!  But I still attend many of their functions; and yesterday, along with Peg, Eve and my friend Sharon, attended the annual New Year's party for seniors at the Mevin Rhodes Legion Post.  There was great live music for dancing and a wonderful turkey dinner.  Residents of the Resurrection Nursing Home were guests of the club and invitations were sent to each of the local senior citizen groups.

DOOR PRIZE: provided by Pat was won by Robbie MacCue!

50/50 for $18 was won by John Mulligan!

MEGA 50/50: now with 51 cards and worth $25 foiled Bob Loveridge, who could only produce the Jack of Diamonds!
