ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Please sing up to buy some Girl Scout cookies from troop 1095 from Miller Hill/Sand Lake school. They only have 7 girls in their troop and are having trouble selling enough. Leader Terri Shupp and 3 of the scouts were pleased to be present to accept the orders.
Jerry announced that there was an article in the paper about Kiwanis turning 94 years of age on Jan. 21. T he first club was chartered in Detroit, MI on Jan. 21, 1921
· Miller Young will serve “ Club Designee for Member at Large” between N Y District Foundation, President Sal Anelli and SLKC> Miller Young will serve as the conduit for all communication/correspondence between the Foundation and our Club.
· Mikki Mc sherry submitted her resignation effective Jan. 12, 2009
· With Mikki's resignation we have openings for a Vice President and a Community Services Chair please call or email Barbara Fiorvanti 766-5578 if you are interested in any of these positions.
· Jim Rogers: reminder of interclubs: tomorrow, 1/27/09 at 7:30 am in Troy going with Jim Rogers will be Dave Booker, Nancy W. Davis and Bob Loveridge. And an interclub on Feb. 5 at the Rensselaer Ambulance Garage at 6 pm. Going are Nancy W. Davis, Eve Ward, Jim Rogers, Dave Booker, Pat Lane and Bob Loveridge.
· Doors of Hope were done on Jan 20 by Dave Booker, Bob Pasquarelli, Jim Parslow, Joe Behson and Jerry Tysiak. Next Doors of Hope will be Feb. 6 please come along and help if you can.
· John Brownrigg reminded us about the Veteran's Night on Jan. 28 to be held at the Walter Adams American Legion Hall. This is a county wide event please come and show your support. Please bring new or used playing card for the troops in Afganistan.

PROGRAM : Steve Maney from
The Community Hospice spoke about all the various programs that Hospice
provides.
There are six Community Hospice groups in the area and the
Rensselaer County is the largest with over 600 individuals being served. Care
covers every aspect of care either at home or in the hospital for the
terminally ill and their care givers. The "Soupervisior" presented Steve
with a certificate and the club's appreciation for his presentation.

$ Dave Booker for having just returned from a training session for the North American Governors Elect held at the Annual Service Leadership Program (read sponsored organizations) Administrators in Baltimore.
$ Barb Fiorvanti for the care that Hospice gave her Mom and also for the “good news” about a pilot (Capt. Sullenberger of US Airways flight 1545 and the landing in the Hudson River) for a change!
$ Jim Rogers , his back is much better and he went out for a 3 mile walk today.
$ Eve Ward for Hospice
$ Nancy W. Davis for a friend's successful bypass heart surgery.
$ Peg.Weiss for the care that her husband received from hospice.
$ Pat Lane – she was not able to sleep last night which was a “good thing” as she was able to hear the furnace break down and thus was able to call the repair man.
DOOR PRIZE was won by Barbara Fiorvanti, she received an iou from Pat Lane.
50/50 for $ 21.00 was won by Jim Rogers who then pulled his own number for the progressive 50/50
MEGA 50/50 worth $88.00 with 47 cards was not won by Jim when he drew the 5 of clubs.
