PROGRAM John
Glasser Butler Park Playground Equipment Replacement.
John informed the club that the original playground equipment was installed in the early 90’s. Recently the town’s insurance co. informed Town Officials that the playground was a hazard due to the decaying condition of the wood in the equipment. The Town got busy and contacted a company out of N.Y. City (Landscapes Structures) to design a new state-of-art playground. It will include the usual things such as swings, exercise bars and a small fire truck painted with Town Fire Departments logo. The playground landscape will have good drainage with special woodchips The total cost is expected to be $80,000. Benches can be purchased with personalized sponsored logo attached for $395. Four are proposed to line the perimeter. “Tobacco Free Zone” signs will also be displayed. The Town’s fire departments and SLKC will be involved with the installation of the new playground.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
$ Botsy; Happy because soon he won’t have to be sitting across from Pres. Elect Gary when the Elect will be running the meetings.
$ Gov. Elect Dave; Happy to have attended the Circle K Convention at the Crown Plaza Hotel and on the same weekend to have attended K-Clubbers Convention at the Nevele. He had the privilege to address the over 1,000 Key Club attendees.
$ Key Club Advisor Dale Hall; Happy for Key Club Lt. Gov. Designate Allison deciding to become a “shooter” (at the target range of course) and was amused that Allison made it a goal to find out what Dale carries in his black bag in his car. Dale was also impressed that one of the Key Club Lt. Governors (a young female student) who attended the convention was able to shoot and bag 2 deer this past hunting season. He also was impressed with high-spirited Conventioneers and the fact that one of the three Key Club Districts he represents produced a Distinguished Lt. Governor.
$ Key Club Advisor Barb Fioravanti; Happy for the N.Y. District Key Club Training she attended at the Nevele and that she was able to be unarmed for the event. She had 1 Happy $1.00 for Columbia High School Key Club and 1 Happy $1.00 for Averill Park High School Key Club attending the event.
$Sec. Peg Weiss; Happy for the great 80th Anniversary party she attended at the Rensselaer Kiwanis Club and for the great food at the event.
$Jim C.; Also happy for the great 80th Anniversary party at the Rensselaer Club and the fantastic program given by member Patrick Valle speaking about his memories of how the Rensselaer Kiwanis provided him as an orphan living at St. John’s Institute Orphanage with many summertime activities on the Hudson Day liner ship river cruises and the many trips to our own Crystal Lake Park. One of the reasons Pat has become such a dedicated member of the Rensselaer Kiwanis is as Pat said, “This is payback to the Community for all the goodness that was given to me when I was in need.” Jim was also happy because he won the 50/50 prize for $45. However his happiness was short lived because he was rudely criticized for only offering 1 Happy $1.00 for his winnings. Do you think that maybe a little bit of envy was being displayed by the criticizing SLKC members?
$Nancy Davis; Happy that Election Day is tomorrow and race for the Congressional Seat will finally be over.
DOOR PRIZE: Pulled by John Glasser and the I.O.U. was won by Gov. Elect. Dave Booker
50/50: Pulled by Gov. Elect Dave and $22.00 won by Pres. Elect Gary
