PROGRAM

Membership & Education Chair Joe Behson reminded us of the importance of growth to the vitality of the club.  New members have new ideas, and we need both!  Joe distributed cards and asked for the names of persons who would make good Kiwanians, and directed everyone to follow up on them.

HAPPY DOLLARS

$     John Brownrigg:  Special thanks to Bill Whipple for a great re-organizing of Summerfest sponsor information.  So far we have received $18,550!  {“I went to the Brownrigg School of Accounting!”/Bill} I also want to note that our Pres Pat is the only person I’ve ever heard of who went to Scotland and got sun poisoning!

$     Kevin Sarsfield:  I want to commend the monumental efforts of Bob Loveridge for the success of the Division Golf Tournament on Saturday—great job and a great day!  Jean Hamlin was a spotter for any holes in one, and helped find balls in the woods.  But did you have to refer to me as “that heavy set guy, your ball is over here!”  Also, Phyllis and I saw our son graduate from Yale!

$     Jean Hamlin:  Did you know that golf spelled backwards is FLOG!

$     Jim Colabelli:  I’m pleased that my company was chosen to install the new fire alarm system at the Church of the Covenant.  I’m also happy that I was welcomed at a different table tonight, that my right hand is now back in action, and that we reclaimed some of our yard by taking down 9 large 30 year old trees!  Also, I saw Barb fly over in her airplane!

$     Bob Loveridge:  I want to express my gratitude for everyone who came to the golf outing, and everyone who worked on it.  I have gift cards for golf stuff for anyone who wants them.  Thanks, too, to Mike Gates and John Mulligan for staffing the food trailer for the lacrosse tournament.

$     Bob Pasquarelli for Botsy:  Happy not to see Gary for a while!

$     Gary Meislin:  My bathroom is complete, and my son helped me fill a dumpster so I have a clean yard again!  Still looking for a cat!

$     Joe Behson:  Spent a great week and a half in Wales with Margaret, great weather.  Had lunch at a tiny mountain village inn where the Everest climbers practiced and signed their names on the ceiling.  Saw the Olympic torch float by, and met a new cousin from NJ who now lives in Wales!  Thanks to Jim Colabelli for taking care of my house!

$     Mike Marcelle:  Thanks to all who came out for the school vote!  Our 3rd daughter has finished her Master’s at Albany, and I don’t have any more tuition checks to write!

$     Bill Whipple:  Thanks to the Summerfest team.  Out of 120, 70 requests were yes!  And special thanks to Botsy who saved the day at the food trailer at the Memorial Day ceremonies!

$     Barb Fioravanti:  Our new Builders Club held its first meeting, and made cookies for Doors of Hope, with the help of their faculty advisor Liz Maloney!

$     Dave Booker:  Celebrated my birthday by receiving notice from the bank that my mortgage was paid off, and I now will receive Social Security!

$     Peg Weiss:  Had a wonderful weekend at Sacandaga Lake at a family gathering in support of my grandson Nate’s imminent deployment to Afghanistan!  Conflicting emotions!  We promised him another one next year when he comes home!

$     Dick Johnsen:  Music has always been an important part of Methodist worship, and COC will celebrate by having a choral worship service next Sunday June 10th at 10:30 by our great choir that includes Jim Colabelli and Peg Weiss.  You are all welcome!

$     Pat Lane:  Had a wonderful trip to Scotland!  My favorite subject was always history, and I got plenty of it there!  My friend’s family had been evicted from their homes back in the feudal days, and we walked to see what was left.  We also saw a circle of standing stones from the Druids, and heard saxophone music.  A “short walk” turned into a 7 hour trek, and that’s how I got sunburned!

DOOR PRIZE, provided by Joe Behson, was won by Skip Patton!

50/50 for $26 was won by John Mulligan!

MEGA 50/50 now worth $321.50 again defeated Banker Mike Gates, who picked the 2 of Hearts       from the remaining 34 cards!
