PROGRAM: “The Other Side of Joe Cybulski”
Program Chair: Ron Wagner
Speaker: Joe Cybulski
Joe is a man who enjoys his job. He is the Rensselaer County Commissioner of Unified Family Services. He is passionate about getting our seniors the food, medical help, education and recreation that they deserve. Joe also oversees the Veterans and Youth Programs. He proudly told of the hot meals five days a week at each of the five senior centers as well as many home delivered meals. They deliver between 450-475 meals a day to local seniors and make and serve 160.000 meals a year. A donation of $2.50 is suggested but if a person doesn't have it they are just as welcome. They also offer a respite care program for grandparents who are raising their grand children. He also mentioned the HIICAP program which helps our seniors choose the proper Medicare Part D program. There is transportation for seniors to the five senior centers. They also run an Ombudsman Program which is in need of some volunteers for which training is provided. This program provides advocates for the frail elderly living in long term care facilities. His voice shows his belief in keeping people in their homes as long as safely possible.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
$ Dave Booker : Back from the convention in Nashville, says he learned a lot. It was wonderful not to hear any NY Senate news while away.
$ Ken Van Praag:
o Reminding us that everyone of us should go to Dave Bookers " Coronation."
o Glad his grandson, "Crash," has graduated and is going to SCCC to study Arson Management.
o Proud of the great job that Joe is doing and the Man he has become.
$ John Brownrigg :
o Had a wonderful time in Queens for the Subway Series of course his team lost.
o Also went to Belmont to see Rachael Alexandra win the Mother Goose Stakes.
o Had a great time in Queens with old friends.
$ Joe Cybulski: Thanking Ron Wagner for Sponsoring his program.
$ Bob Carpentier: Telling us to watch for Joe Behson's upcoming program.
$ Jerry Tysiak:
o Wishes he knew of the respite care program, having just had his two very young grandchildren for two weeks; of course he says this as he is beaming with pleasure from his time with them.
o His daughter, Marissa, is now a licensed Pharmacist who is completing a Residency at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV. She graduated from pharmacy school with extremely high marks, when 75 is a passing grade on a state exam and your daughter gets 124 it is reason to crow.
