ANNOUNCEMENTS:
1.The following people have not picked up their tickets to see the Tri City Valley Cats play ball at the Joe on Monday July 27th; Dick Johnsen, Megan Sanzo, & Bob Carpenter. See Eve Ward soon! Two tickets are still available.
2. Chances for the raffle are still available for the seats in the Hudson Valley Skybox at the Joe. See Dave Booker if you are interested.
3. Sunmmerfest Recovery Picnic Monday July 20th 5:30 PM at Butler Park. Bring a covered dish to share and your own tables and chairs. Beverages, entertainment, paper and plastic-ware will be provided. Come to relax and have a good time.
4. The following people are the designated delegates to the 92nd New York District Kiwanis Annual Convention August 19 – 23, 2009 at the Crowne Plaza; Jerry Tysiak, Bill Whipple, and Peg Weiss. Alternates are; Joe Behson, Ken VanPraag, and John Brownrigg. Delegates at large are Dave Booker andJim Rogers. Lets have a strong showing of club members at the Convention in support of our own Governor Elect Dave Booker’s installation.
5. Doors of Hope unloading of food on Wed 7-8-09 was attended solely by Ken James. Thank you Ken. Next unloading is scheduled for Tues. 7-14-09. Signed up are Bob Pasquarelli, Ken James, and Nancy Davis.

Special Event! Stride Family Day Clambake and Concert on Sunday July 26th
at Butler Park from 12:30 to 6 PM hosted by the Arlington House to benefit
STRIDE Adaptive Sports. There will be entertainment, burgers and dogs, soda
and beer all day; and clambake. Tickets are $25.00 (clambake) and $10.00 (non-
clambake/kids) Entertainment by the Not Dead Yet will be under the concert
bandshell. Reservations are required. Contact the Arlington House or the
STRIDE office at 518-598-1279 for credit card reservations or contact
info@stride.org for more information.
7. The iinduction of new member Bill Kieley took place tonight by our Membership & Education Chair, Bob Pasquarilli. Bill was sponsored by Pres. Jerry. Apparently Pres. Jerry and Bill are neighbors. The two families have socialized together for at least 20 years. Jerry has been trying to convince Bill to join SLK for quite some time. I guess our Pres. finally said the magic words because its easy to see that Bill is going to be a quality member to our club. Bill was a hard worker every day at Summerfest. Welcome to SLK Bill.
8.George Raneri has received the Legion of Honor Award from Kiwanis for 40 years of membership. Congratulations George. He thanked SLK for all of the good work that the club has done for the community. The Averill Park Fire Dept. has also honored George with a lifetime membership.

9. Ray Turner announced the Interclub to the Hoosick Falls Kiwanis Club to attend the scheduled divisional meeting to be held at the Hoosick Falls Country Club on July 21st. Cash bar at 6pm and dinner is $18.00. There will be an auction to benefit Governor Dave Booker so bring item to auction and extra cash. Reservations must be made by July 17th.

PROGRAM: Summerization of Summerfest
1. Special thank you to new members John Mulligan and newest member Bill Kieley.
2. Net profit will be +/- $10,000.
3. President Elect Gary’s term will benefit by profits from Summerfest.
4. Thank you to all the following friends of Kiwanis who participated in Summerfest. Joanne Beach, Cindy Tysiak, Jean (Friend of Ray Loveridge), Betty Jean Whipple, Margaret (Friend of Joe Behson), Suzanne Brownrigg, Phyllis Sarsfield, Jean Andrick from Hoosick Falls Kiwanis, John Swarthaut, from Latham Kiwanis, Andrew Wagner, son of Ron Wagner, Betty friend of Ron Wagner, Eve Wards daughter, and Jan Colabelli .
5. Thank you for all the work done by the Sheriff’s Department and work release crew for ground cleaning.
6. Thank you for the hard work done by the Explorers with parking and security.
7. Thank you for the security provided by the State Police and our own security force.
8. The fireworks were spectacular even though they were delayed.
9. Thank you to Skip Patton for a great road race even though attendance was down from last year.
10. Thank you to Joe Cybulski for great publicity.
11. Thank you to Jim Colabelli and Bob Loveridge for their hard work in bringing the craft and food venders to Summerfest.
12. The successful parade was organized by John Brownrigg and Bob Reiter. Thank you John & Bob.
13. Thank you to Bob Pasquarelli for organizing another successful food tent and to all the following workers who made it possible. Ken James, Botsey and his knobby grill, Bill Whipple, Gary Meislin, John Brownrigg, Dudley Dorr, KVP, George Raneri, Nancy Davis, John Mulligan, Peg Weiss, Eve Ward, Bill Kieley, Ron Wagner, Andrew Wagner, Betty Whipple, Skip Patton, Kevin Sarsfield, Jim Rogers, Woody Hacker, Pat Lane, & Joe Trupia. $5,000 was grossed and $2,000 was netted.
14. Special thank you to Bob Loveridge for running the softball tournament. First place to APHS Transportation Department, 2nd place to Averill Park Fire Department, 3rd place to Hoags Corners Fire Department.
15. Thanks you to Joe Behson and Margaret and Bruce Perry for a successful Tennis Tournament.
16. We had a successful Beer Trailer and Mark will be back next year with an even better arrangement for selling beer. Can you visualize a beer garden under a tent with tables and chairs.
17. Thank you to the Sand Lake Chorale for singing at the Opening Ceremonies and the kind words spoken by Kathy Jimino.
18. Thank you to Barb Fioravanti for another great entertainment program.
19. Thank you to Armand Mills for making great Summerfest shirts 2009.
20. Thank you to Hannaford for the great sausage & peppers, hamburgers and hot dogs.
21. Thank you to all for hard work setting up and taking down.
22. The ride ticket sales and 50/50 raffle also brought in a good deal of revenue.
HAPPY DOLLARS:
$ Bob Pasquarelli; 5 happy dollars for all the support and great help at the food tent.
$ Governor Elect Dave (hard hat in hand); sad $’s for missing Summerfest, but happy ones for “Bookers Builders” at their formal training and for the opportunity to again "ring the bell," this time at the District Board Meetings..
$ Skip Patton; Happy and thankful for all the road race help.
$ Botsey; Happy for the good service he got from his grill and not losing his knobs.
$ Pres Elect Gary; Happy that Food Tent Bob P. put up with his periodic nonsense and for Bob’s great food tent control. Also Happy that Botsey brought himself and his grill. Gary also thanked the Club for all their hard work that made money for his Admin year.
$ Jim Rogers Happy for a great Summerfest and for letting Joe B drive his car in the parade.
$ John Brownrigg Happy for a great parade and opening ceremonies. Sad and apologetic $’s for not mentioning Pres Jerry in his opening ceremonies speech.
$ Dudley; Happy for the Club sending him to the International Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
$ Barb Fioravanti; Happy for great music at Summerfest.
$ Bill Whipple; Happy to be a sound man in the parade and also Happy that the Sand Lake Ambulance was able to get a good reading of his blood pressure after some initial scary moments with faulty readings.
$ Jim C; Happy for Gary’s most eloquent and articulate speech thanking the Club for their hard work at a successful Summerfest and making money for his Admin year.

50/50: $19.00 won by Joe Behson
MEGA 50/50 $61.50 with 50 cards. The chance to draw the King of Clubs was won by Bob Loveridge, but for the second time in 2 weeks it was close but no cigar with his drawing of the Queen of Hearts. 49 cards left.
