ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ø  DUES ARE OVERDUE!!!  You know who you are!

Ø  From Lt Gov Noreen:  Next Division fun outing is Sun Aug 8 from 1-3 PM.  Tennis for anyone, beginner on up.  Lessons and racquets available for children and adults at APHS.  Then at 4 PM there will be open bowling (or watching) at Spare Time in East Greenbush.  $2.50 per game and $2.50 for shoe rental.  HOWEVER, SLKs are reminded that we have Music in the Park at 5:30-7:30 PM featuring Michael Benedict’s Jazz Vibes!

Ø  Eve (shown on right):  The Annual Presidential End of Year Steak and Lobster Roast will be Fri Aug 27 at Camp Rotary.  Guests are most welcome, but you must sign up!  A work sheet will come around later.  Cost will be divided among those eating.  See me ASAP.

Ø  Eve, again:  The annual outing to the Valley Cats baseball game will replace our regular meeting on Mon Aug 30, and again you must sign up and prepay.  See me ASAP.

Ø  Emily:  Thank you so much for your support in sending me to the Key Club International Convention in Memphis, TN.  I had a wonderful time, and have pictures and souvenirs to share with you.  Each of us was given a special bag, and I have my pin trading collection from Key Clubbers all over the world attached to mine.  We had a 10 day tour, stopping in Ohio at an amusement park, and in Nashville, before arriving in Memphis, where we had a tour of Graceland.  No Elvis, but many look-alikes!  We took a river trip on a steamboat with a blues band, and went to the Peabody Hotel where the ducks parade in through the lobby every day!  We played a trick on the Key Club District Chair:  stuffed his bathroom with so many balloons that you couldn’t even get in, and then waited to hear the screams!

Ø  Peg Weiss read a thank you note from the charge nurse of AMC’s NICU for the collection of little hats for the preemies that we made for them.

Ø  Secretary Pat announced that she would be absent from next week’s meeting, and that John Brownrigg would take over the secretary’s duties.  Eve volunteered to pick up the mail.  Pat was very disappointed in SLK’s lack of participation at the first Music in the Park concert.  April Marie and friends gave a wonderful program to a sparse audience.  Pat was the only Kiwanian present until Peg and Eve arrived from Hoosick Falls.  How can we expect the public to support our activities if we don’t?  Let’s do better from now on!

Ø  Joe Behson and Jim Colabelli volunteered to be the hosts for next week’s program which will be Michael Benedict’s Jazz Vibes.  We still need hosts for Aug 15, 22, and 29.

Ø  Jerry Tysiak:  The next meeting of RAAD (anti alcohol & addiction) will be Tues Aug 10 at the Sand Lake Library at 6:30 PM.  All are invited; meetings are on the second Tuesdays.

AUGUST BIRTHDAYS:  Pat Lane & James Perez, both of whom were present to be serenaded.

AUGUST ANNIVERSARIES:  Joe & Carol Cybulski, Joe & Patricia Grillo, Armand & Ellen Mills, John & Pat Mulligan, Bruce & Sally Perry, Bob & Deborah Reiter, Kevin & Phyllis Sarsfield, Ray & Dexie Turner, and Miller & Stephanie.  We sang to John alone!  Poor singing, as usual, but a great cake!

HAPPY DOLLARS

$     Skip Patton:  I went to my favorite place in the world—FENWAY PARK!  And the Red Sox won!  And the Colabellis went with us!

$     Jim Colabelli:  Had a great day with Skip at that great park that was built at the time of the Titanic!  And I have the perfect hat to wear at all times—“Red Sox vs Yankees – best rivalry in sports”

$     John:  Glad Bill Whipple is back!!

$     Bill:  Here’s $10 happy dollars!  I’m so glad to be back after 3 months—WOW!  I’ll tell you all about the experience later—I’m saving it for a program!  Thanks so much for all the

cards, notes, visits, flowers, etc—they were greatly appreciated.

We were short on attendance at this meeting, so Fred W bought the extra pork dinner for $10.

50/50 for $20 was won by Jim Perez!

MEGA 50/50 grew to $284.50 but even Gov Dave couldn’t tap it—he drew the 8 of Diamonds from the remaining 37 cards!
