At 8:15 the meeting resumed.

Joe Behson thanked Margaret for putting up with him over this past year. He shared that we are fortunate to have a Lt Gov and Governor from SLK. Congratulations to Rogers and Booker. Thanks to all club members for a great year. Our goal was to significantly increase membership and SLK installed 12 new members! Joe urged new members to make their voices heard and to step up in leadership roles. Kiwanis can no longer be the organization it once was….young people have many more responsibilities to juggle and may not be able to be here every Monday. It is most important to participate in the projects. Joe went on to provide special recognition to several members. He gave each one a plaque, canvas K bag, pen and key chain.

Jim Rogers, Ron Wagner, John Brownrigg, Bryce Cutler, Mikki McSherry, Barb Firovanti, Joe Cybulski, Dudley Dorr, Eve Ward, Jim Colabelli, Peg Weiss, Jerry Tysiak, Bob Pasquerelli, Bob Loveridge, Dave Booker.

Joe went on to explain that the outgoing president may identify one member that stands out as a Kiwanian over the year. The criteria he used included active in projects, bringing in at least one new member, and finally standing up to Brownrigg! EVE WARD was honored as the Kiwanian of the Year!! Congratulations to Eve, a well-deserved honor.

Jim Rogers, Lt Governor, recognized those retiring who will not hold an office next year, Chris Blais, Ron Wagner. Jim honored Bob Loveridge as immediate past president. Bob was named as a distinguished past president, one of only 16 in SLK. Bob worked to honor with the Connelly Metal for Heroism from Kiwanis International the two teachers at Columbia affected by the shooting there several years ago. Booker was honored as he has held many offices: Lt Gov in NY and MA, once as distinguished, 4 times as distinguished secretary and now he is Governor Elect!
