PRESENTATIONS by PRES PAT

        To Club Meetings Chair Dudley Dorr, the Round Robin Patch for last year, to be affixed to the Club Honors Banner!

     To Mike Gates, his personal installation, and his President-Elect pin!

OCTOBER BIRTHDAYS:  Bob Reiter

OCTOBER ANNIVERSARIES:  Jim & Terry Parslow, Pete & Nancy Stevens, and the only one present, Bill and Betty Jean Whipple!  We hope their 47 years were more pleasant than our poor attempt at singing!  We certainly enjoyed Eve’s delicious spice cake, though!

PROGRAM

          Club Meetings Chair Dudley Dorr summarized the work of his committee which consists primarily of collecting payments at the door, and setting up the accoutrements of our meetings:  the lectern and sound system, badge box, tickets for drawings, flags, banners, and the bell & gavel.  Members of this committee must arrive early to accomplish these tasks, and stay after the bell to put all the equipment away.  Collecting at the door is an excellent way for newer members to learn names.  These “behind the scenes” workers make our meetings consistent.  Thank you!

HAPPY DOLLARS

$     Pres Pat:  I won $35 from the 50/50 at Rensselaer’s installation!

$     Dave Booker:  After the Red Sox were eliminated, I planned to root for the Yankees, but then they lost too!

$     Skip Patton:  Just returned from a great weekend in Maine closing up the camp.  What wonderful weather for October….and the lobsters were good too.  I’m still backing the Red Sox, though!

$     Jim Rogers:  Now that Detroit has knocked out the Yankees, I hope the Tigers can go all the way to the Series!

$     Barb Fioravanti:  I just (a few minutes ago!) got back from a wonderful weekend in New Hampshire.  Since we drove, I feel able to give a tribute to the Vermonters who have made unbelievable recovery in the few weeks following their devastating floods!

$     Jim Colabelli:  I had 3 cords of wood delivered from Tremont’s, and have half of it stacked.  Boring work, but it looks quite neat!  I notice tonight that 3 of us, Jim Rogers, Mike, and I are wearing the uniform of the day (blue Kiwanis shirts)!

$     Pres Pat:  I worked the food trailer yesterday, and am extremely proud of Averill Park kids:  all but one said “thank you” for their food!

Ron Wagner and Bob Pasquarelli bought the two extra chicken & dumpling dinners.

DOOR PRIZE, provided by Dudley Dorr, was won by Gary Meislin!

50/50 for $18 was won by Joe Behson!

MEGA 50/50 has grown to $152 but will grow more since Jim Colabelli didn’t find that elusive King of Clubs from the 45 remaining cards.  He picked the 4 of Diamonds!
