WELCOME BACK: Bill Whipple After being KOed in the first round by a nasty head cold. Hopefully Bill will be the winner in subsequent bouts with the bad stuff.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Pres Jerry: Operations Safe Child held Oct. 8 was a success. Thank you to Pres Jerry, Gov Elect Dave Booker and Past Distinguished Lt Gov. Chet Melius for working on this project.
The Club received a thank you note from Austin Crosier for our support so that he could attend Kamp Kiwanis.
Six meals were auctioned off and promptly sold.
Lt Gov. Jim Rogers: 29 people from the Renss. Div. and 29 people from the Mohawk and Capitol Div. will be attending the Governor’s visit on Oct. 17th at the Desmond. Thank you to all who attended and gave support for each of the club installations of officers in the Renss Division. Ken Ormiston is in contol of the Renss Div. website. He has posted all of the officers and photos.
Ray Turner: Those attending the Governor’s visit from SLK. Melius, Tysiak, Loveridge, Booker, Behson, Rogers and significant others.
IPP Joe: As announced at the beginning of his presidency, the winner of the invited guest night would receive a free week-end at his Mt. Snow ski lodge. A total of 33 guests were invited, some of which have become members. Two winners tied in this contest. Make sure you are present for next weeks meeting for an exciting tie breaker event.
Mikki McSherry: Sign up sheets for the Doors of Hope and the Soccer Trailer were sent around and hopefully all blanks were filled in.
Jean Andrick: It’s that time of
year again. The Russell Sage Circle K is having their Annual Holiday Bread
Sale. Three flavors of bread will be available this year: Banana, Zucchini
and Cinnamon. Cost is $5 each or 2 for $8! Orders will be taken at next
weeks meeting. Last years fund raiser netted $502 to the American Diabetes
Foundation. They came to the Club and gave a presentation and received the
monies from the Club members. They hope you will once again be generous
with your orders.
October Birthdays: Joe Cybulski, Bob Carpenter. (Neither was present to receive the club's best wishes!)
October Anniversaries: John & Stacy Glasser, Chet & Meg Melius, Tim & Kim Murdock, Jim & Terry Parslow, Sarah & John Tripp, Bill & Betty Jean Whipple. (Bill was the only one present and was sung to by the club.)
All enjoyed the carrot cake made by Eve!

ROGRAM:
Gary Meislin for Spiritual Aims Dick Johnson.
Facts about the Spiritual Aims Committee as reported by Gary.
1) Fostering of spiritual development within the club.
2) Human support counseling and guidance.
3) Sponsoring of non-denominational religious events taking place in the community.
4) Responsible for the Summerfest church services.
5) Generating of the spiritual thought for each weeks Sandpiper.
6) Responsible for recognizing birthdays and anniversaries for club members at the first meeting of each month.

$ Joe Behson: Left eye now okay after cataract surgery. Hopefully surgery on right eye will also be as successful.

$ Barb Fioravanti: She and Gene flew to Lake Winnipisaukie this past week-end. Mountains and foliage were stunning!
$ Scott Paul: Was happy to present plaque to SLK for sponsoring a team to Twin Town Little League. Son is now reading a series of books about Shulis Joe Jackson which is about the history of baseball.
$ Booker: I am now able to sit in the audience and enjoy the meeting. (Ed note: You weren’t enjoying previous meetings when you sat at the head table???)
$Gary M: A thank you to Dave for putting up with me regarding program and greeter/invocation scheduling. Heard from son in Virginia, he is doing okay. More good news, one son moving back from Missouri. That makes 2 out of 3 who have returned home to live near Papa!
$ Bill Whipple: Thankful for modern meds. and nurse Betty.

MEGA 50/50 Pulled by Jim Rogers. The right to have a chance at pulling a winner from 45 cards and $95.00 was Booker. He drew the 4 of clubs, close but no cigar! The Mega 50/50 will get fatter.

OLD BUSINESS
There was no old business since all expired at end of year.
NEW BUSINESS
Highlights:
1) Approval of proposed 2008-09 SLKC Project Fund Budget: Passed
2) Approval of proposed 2008-09 SLKC Administrative Fund Balance: Passed
3) Approval of 2 official non-meeting holidays (Memorial Day and Labor Day): Passed .
4) Approval of new meeting place and time for meeting of Nov. 10th. Alternate location - Averill Park Fire House.
5) Request by Al Hayner for SLKC participation and formation of a Community Advisory Committee on Education. Not considered as there was no motion forth coming from the board members.
6) Approval of Committee Charters (Job Discriptions). Passed
7) Review of the 2008-09 planned president initiatives.
VAN RENSSELAER DIVISION: Governor’s visit will be at the Desmond, Friday, Oct. 17th. First Division Council Meeting will be Thurs Nov. 6th at the Renss Club.
NEW YORK DISTRICT: Membership of the District up plus seven members.
KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL: The International President's schedule through January 2009 is available - see Booker.
