   PROGRAM:

Bob Pasquarelli introduced our Speaker, Membership & Education Chair   Joe Behson. Joe informed us on the importance of focusing on Club membership and Growth. Kiwanis International has dubbed a program called Reveal Your Growth Potential. Every three months an emphasis on club membership growth will be asked of each Kiwanis Club. The SLK Membership Committee is sponsoring a program to increase our membership by asking each SLK member to “pledge” to try to bring at least one new member into our club over the next year. Pledge sheets passed out to each table were promptly returned with just about everyone signing a “ yes” next to their name  to bring in one new member over the next year. As Joe stated “ membership growth is crucial to our mission to provide quality service to our community. The goal this year is to have substantial membership growth for our Club.

HAPPY DOLLARS:

$ Gov. Dave; a Happy Dollar from Joe Trupia for having his picture in area papers. His band is performing in the Senior Expo.

Gov. Dave was also happy for having such a great time interclubing with the York, ME Kiwanis Club and taking part in a new activity of a cooking class at the Stonewall Kitchens in ME. He learned how to make meatloaf stuffed with provolone, arugula, prosciutto and pine nuts. Also made was fresh ricotta cheese.

$ Eve Ward; Happy for a great weekend interclubbing in York, ME but not happy that she has never been so cold in her life. She was also happy for the supportive attendance of the Averill Park soccer team at the memorial service for Kristin’s father. Kristin is a fellow teammate.

$ Dick Johnsen; Happy for the children’s story that Jim Rodgers told to the children at The Church of The Covenant’s Sunday service explaining the miracles of fall.

$ Bryce Cutler; Happy that he knows that he will always be welcomed back to SLKC.

$ Bob Pasquarelli; Happy that even though he wasn’t able to interclub to York, he was still able to enjoy delicious bread Eve brought to him from the “When Pigs Fly Bakery" in ME.

$ Peg Weiss; Happy for an enjoyable, but cold interclub to York and finally being  to get to see Kennebunkport. She was also happy that she was able to pay Ron Wagner $20 while he was on her Bed. Editor’s note: Obviously what happens in Maine does not stay in Maine.

$ Joe Behson; Happy for an anticipatory reason. Very soon Joe and significant other Margaret will be leaving for an adventure in Wales hiking, mountain climbing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

$ Joe Cybulski; Happy for being able to attend a wedding for his nephew in Phila. and happy that the club sang for his birthday even though he was not present at the meeting. Joe also added that with this recent birthday he is no longer a senior in training.

$ Bill Whipple; Happy for guest Bryce Ginther’s second visit; Happy for their son John’s 43rd birthday on  Oct. 17th  and Bill was happy that he and Betty celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary also on Oct the 17th.

$ Pat Lane; Happy for the impressive work that the York, ME Kiwanis Club has accomplished this year with only 10 members. She was also happy that Ron Wagner has finally convinced her to get rid of the crappy handbag she has been carrying around forever and buy one similar to his.
