Pres Dick summarized the activities of his administrative year, beginning with the impressive 50th Anniversary celebration in January. Three Hixson Awards were presented during the year to Ken VanPraag, Bob Pasquarelli, and Dale Hall. Many on going service projects were successfully continued, and some new ones added. Special recognition to the Computers for Kids program; food vouchers rather than boxes, thanks to cooperation from Millers Market; the creation of the virtual Sandpiper, ("we're on line, baby!"), now e-mailed to those not electronically challenged; participation in Community Partnership to prevent substance abuse among our teens; SummerFest and Orange Crate Derby refined and both were successful. Our projects work, due mainly to the efforts of the same people who always say yes; we need to involve more newer members, and all members should be willing to accept an office or chairmanship. Pres Dick thanked all who helped and advised him, presenting ceramic pencil holders created by Mary LaFleur to committee chairs, and gold Kiwanis logo tree ornaments to directors. |
