Ø Mike Gates: Tonight is the FINAL deadline for citrus. Orders go in tomorrow!
Ø Pres Pat: To help get the Builders Club started at Algonquin Middle School, I would like to start with a project just as the K-Kids did at West Sand Lake. We will help them make dog chew toys. Bring in clean tee shirts (or similar soft cotton knit fabric). The “cut-ups” will be at Pat’s house between Christmas and New Year’s!
Ø John Brownrigg: There will be a BRIEF Summerfest meeting following this meeting.
Ø Pres Pat read a thank you letter from Debra Roy at SLCA for our donation to their Annual Fund and Capital Campaign. 4 complimentary vouchers were included, and Pres Pat announced that a raffle will be held for them, with proceeds to the EliMiNate Project.
Ø Mike Gates: 18 trees have been sold so far, 100 were delivered, 75 more coming later.
Ø Please note our new location, compliments of Botsy!
Ø Eve Ward: Please don’t forget gifts for teens. We have 35 young people to provide for.
Bob Pasquarelli introduced the director of the Sand Lake Center for the Arts, Debra Roy who thanked the Club once more for our donation, and also noted that many individual Kiwanians have contributed. She paid tribute to all the volunteers who make the Center operate smoothly including present Board members Bob Pasquarelli and Dudley Dorr. The Capital Campaign will hopefully provide the funds with which the Center will be renovated and improved. They hope to raise $90,000 in 3 years to build a permanent, structurally sound stage, improve the overall lighting, and install a sturdy new floor. Many groups use the Center for various purposes: dancing, art work display, theater productions, workshops, and classes. They have $19,000 so far in the bank, with $10,000 pledged. No work will be started until all the necessary funds have been raised. 2013 is the goal year, which is the Center’s 10th Anniversary. First draft plans are available to peruse, and advice is sought as to the type of lighting to be installed. Barbara Fioravanti thanked Debra for coming to update us on their plans, and presented her with our Certificate of Appreciation.
$ John Brownrigg: I just spent 13 days with Blondie and we didn’t kill each other! We had an eclectic Thanksgiving in Arizona!
$ Ken James: I had surgery for carpal tunnel and have no more tingling in my left hand!
$ Skip Patton: We had a great Thanksgiving trip to Lancaster, PA to visit with family!
$ Bob Pasquarelli: Thanks to Debra for bringing us up to date on plans for SLCA. We had a great holiday with the kids and grandkids, who started their shopping Thursday night!
$ Eve Ward: My grandson Drew is in his senior year of college and plans to go on to graduate school. So far RPI and Tulane have solicited him, and you know where I hope he goes!
$ Joe Behson: This is for the Jets…….I hope they keep winning!
$ Pres Pat: For the Rt 66 Hollywood Drive-in sign with the great sayings on it! This week it says “Are You Thankful?” And I am--I survived Thanksgiving with 28 people at my house! And now I’m planning a family reunion for 100 for 4th of July weekend!
DOOR PRIZE, provided by Bob Pasquarelli, was won by Ron Wagner!
50/50 for $24 was won by Bryce Ginther!
MEGA 50/50 worth $238 defeated Eve Ward’s best efforts to find that King in the 40 remaining cards……she picked the Queen of Spades!
