Classifications of membership
There
are 3 classifications of membership in the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club – active,
senior and honorary.
Active
membership is the
basic type of membership involving full participation and attendance.
Senior
members are those who
have maintained active membership for 10 or more years and who, due to personal
or business reasons, are unable to continue to maintain regular attendance.
Upon written request the Board of Directors may grant a member senior
status. A senior member is still
responsible for all dues and attending at least 12 meetings a year.
The membership committee and the Board of Directors review a member’s
senior status annually.
Both
active and senior members may be elected to and hold any office in the club.
Honorary
membership is used to
recognize individuals who have made a significant on going contribution to the
programs of the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club but who are not members of the club. The Board of Directors must review honorary membership
annually.
Additionally there is a privileged member classification in Kiwanis International – but as one had to be elected to this classification prior to 1963 and because there are no such members in the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club – this classification has no relevance to the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club. Kiwanians who were made Privileged Members prior to 1963 have no attendance requirements but are responsible for the payment of all membership fees.
