Club Standing Committees

 Each of the Club’s standing committees meets from time to time and their projects are on going.

Club standing committees may, without the specific approval of the Board of Directors but with majority vote of the committee, to spend up to $200 of the funds budgeted for that committee’s use a project.  The Board may review such actions and issue guidelines for future committee action.

The club’s 14 standing committees and their major responsibilities are:

Club Meeting – also known as the House Committee – (Chair Dudley Dorr) responsible for the physical setup for the weekly meetings.

Community Services (Chair Mikki McSherry) develops and conducts service projects that benefit the community as a whole.

Interclub (Chair Fred Wurtemberger) organizes interclub meetings with other Kiwanis Clubs and encourages members to attend.

Membership Growth and Kiwanis Education (Chair Bob Pasquarelli) devises programs to attract new members and to educate the current membership on the various facets of Kiwanis International, the New York District, the Van Rensselaer Division and the Sand Lake Kiwanis Club.

Program (Chair Sarah Tripp) organizes and schedules the programs for the weekly meetings. 

Publicity (Chair Joe Cybuliski) aids the club’s Officers, Board of Directors, and committee chairs by using the local media to inform the community of the club’s activities and programs.

Sandpiper (Chair Peg Weiss) the bulletin committee – produces a weekly newsletter to inform the membership of the activities of the club, the Board of Directors, the district, and Kiwanis International.

Senior Services (Chair Joe Trupia) suggests and implements programs to enrich the lives of the seniors in the community.   

Social Committee (Chair Eve Ward) arranges special meetings or outings for the club.

Spiritual Aims (Chair Jim Colabelli) cooperates on broad and non-denominational lines with religious leaders and groups in the community to create a greater individual and public consciousness of the importance of religious and spiritual values.

Sponsored Youth (Co-Chairs Chris Blais & Barb Fioravanti) encourages and promotes the activities of the Averill Park High School Key Club.  This committee also is responsible for the future development of other sponsored youth clubs in our area.

Young Children Priority Number One/Major EmphasisYCP1 (Chair Bob Loveridge) develops programs to benefit children age prenatal through five, this includes specific support of the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Unit at Albany Medical Center.

Youth Services (Co-Chairs Kelly Stone & Armand Mills) programs to assist young boys and girls as they develop into adults in our community.

Ways & Means (Chair Jerry Tysiak) studies, devises and suggests methods and means to raise, during the current year, those funds to be used for the service activities of the club in the following year.
